You never know what you can do, till you do it...It applies to everything. I never knew that I could be a little creative till I came to US. Sometimes boredom makes you creative. I realized it with jewelry designing.I never knew that I could do such a thing till I actually did it. I always knew that I liked wearing such beautiful things but to make them myself?? No, never gave a thought about it. It all started with a friend of mine who attended cake decorating classes, it was from her that I came to know that there are places like "michaels" which provide classes in crafts and arts at a hobby level. When I went through there website, I saw that they did teach a lot of things, they had 'cake decorating,' sounded familiar after seeing my friend's work. 'Painting', hmm, I knew I wasn't good at it, given my experience on diagrams for my biology records. 'Paper crafting.'.. naaaa(no offense but i dint like it) . 'Knitting and Crochet work', my sister's do it.. I like the craft but not something I can do.. it needs a lots of time and patience. There was something about 'birthday parties,' since I come from a family where birthday parties are not a traditional event , I gave it a pass. And then I came across "jewelry making", now that's something interesting!! when I went through it I actually came to know that there are so many things about it which I never knew. My first impression was "cool, I can make my own jewelry and I don't have to buy it anymore". I joined the classes and started learning, I had a wonderful teacher Ms Cindy Pavelka Callahan, who, out of interest, taught herself and also has a part-time handmade jewelry business. She was always interested in our Indian crafts and jewelry. I learnt a lot from her. I like the craft, because it makes me think creatively and each day gives me a new idea .This has turned out to be something which I have never done before and I enjoy doing it.
P.S : i have posted some my designs below.
